Learning to surf in Peniche

Have you ever dreamt of learning to surf? The beaches around the fishing town of Peniche are probably one of the best places to take your first steps on a surfboard. Peniche sits on a rocky peninsular and is one of the most western points on the European continent. While the beaches south of Peniche are mainly suitable for experienced surfers, the beaches to the north around Baleal are sandy beach breaks which cater to surfers of all abilities. Due to its curved coastline and formation of bays there are many beaches with gentle waves suitable for beginning surfers.

All of our surf instructors have many years of experience in teaching surfers of all levels and grew up surfing the Peniche beaches.

Buddha Retreats is located a 20 min drive from the coast and every morning after an energizing breakfast we will transport the group to the beach.
